Discovery Church or Ignorant Brethren?

Did I just call Discovery Church the Ignorant Brethren? You could say that I did, but I wasn't the first. The Apostle Paul made the same statement to those who are ignorant of the revelation of the mystery, the dispensation of the grace of God given him through Jesus Christ. In Romans 11, the Apostle Paul, speaking to his kinsmen in the flesh explains to them that their favored nation status, according to their covenant, has been set aside.
  • Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Israel today has no standing, they have stumbled, blinded and have fallen. Salvation has now come to the Gentiles.

  • Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

So does this mean the Church, the body of Christ has replaced the nation Israel? No, not at all. The church which is His body is not a nation, is not "born again" Israel receiving their New Testament, we are something totally different with a different purpose. We are the "new creation" and not something "born again" Something that is "new" cannot be the same as something that is "again". That should be so easy to understand and yet it goes right over every one's head, especially those who have the red ink of the OT books of Mathew, Mark, Luke and John all over their fingers.

  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Old things are passed away would not be you having stopped cussing, smoking 3 packs of cigarettes a day and having that Budweiser after work, although I don't believe those things are good ensamples of someone that is Christ's ambassador. The old things passed away would be referring to Israel, the law, commandment keeping, sabbath observing, tithing, and the other statutes God had put in place for Israel according to their covenant. The next verse should tie the rag on the bush saying:

  • 2 Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;

Certainly, your bad habits were not of God. It could only be the things associated with the nation Israel seeing they have stumbled, blinded and have fallen. So what does all of this have to do with Discovery Church? Easy. If you are instructing your people according the OT doctrines associated with Israel's covenant concerning their "kingdom at hand" Gospel, you would qualify yourself as the "ignorant brethren" of Romans 11:25. And that is exactly what is going on in this institution called Discovery Church in Winterville, NC. The pastor of this establishment has posted a 3 part series on his blog entitled "The F-Word" dealing with forgiveness. The approach this Pastor takes is not uncommon for someone that thinks their marching orders come from the red letters. The belief that you can go anywhere in the Bible for doctrine is not surprising in any way, but it demonstrates the failure to distinguish that the Bible is progressive in revelation and does not have the same instruction for every audience at all times. The next few posts will be dealing with the posts by http://www.jasonebeling.com/ on his blog where I will be demonstrating the dangerous doctrine being taught in this church. It will be presented not only to warn ,but also as a teaching tool to show the rightness of Mid Acts Pauline dispensational right division of the authorized King James Bible.

  • Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

  1. The good thing is that: WE are the only church sining in this way, lucky for us we have our own Paul to correct us. Thank you for that. If you spend as much time praying for us as Paul did for the churches he rebuked, I am sure we will change real soon.

  2. Claude, Did you mean to say "We are NOT the only church sinning this way"? Because I stated in the post that the appoach Discovery has to the Bible is not uncommon. Please, do not take offence to the title containing "Ignorant Brethren". Ignorant does not have the meaning of being dumb, or stupid, it simply means that there is a body of data, in this case doctrine that is being ignored. One of my favorite Pauline prayers is in 1ST Thessalonians 2:13. I want to pray that for you guys but that would require you to 2ND Timothy 2:15. Then and only then will you guys change real soon as you said.

  3. Most don't want to be told they are wrong. They love their traditions. All the fellowship and the music and the food and activity. They have no time for doctrine. It's not that most want to be wrong, they rely on others telling them what to believe. I listened to both sides and used the scripture to show me and I see that what I "thought" or "heard" was wrong. I was an adult and I did as the Bereans did and searched the scripture. I saw that those things I thought were true were not.

I saw this quote just today and put it on my Facebook. It is soooo true.

When a man who is honestly mistaken hears the truth, he will either quit being mistaken or cease to be honest

Claude, I hope you will be honest with yourself and see the truth. It wasn't hard for me because I wasn't brought up in church. I had some of the same ideas that most denominations have such as the church starting at Pentecost and water baptism and tithing. Only when I saw the truth from scripture did I repent(change my mind) and was transformed from that day on. I received not only the good news of the gospel but the good news that I could understand the Bible and know where my marching orders were and that I was blessed with heavenly blessings. I will pray that you will see the light also! Thanks Dean for your ministry.

  4. I think where man is concerned, there will always be ignorance and flaws within "interpretation". Don't you? Do you claim to be all knowing in interpreting the Bible...in a completely and perfectly truthful way? There is always someone with a little more intelligence or more book knowledge...or even more "spiritual maturity" than someone else. Yet, who can say they have all the answers of truth? We each need to search God's word, and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to us what is truth. Even then, we may all disagree on some points. We can still love each other, and build one another up, even when we disagree. The Bible says that NONE of us will fully know until we are with Jesus. 1 Corin 13:9-10 9For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.God's word says this:1 Corinthians 1:26-28 (King James Version)26For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:27But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;28And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:Now, I am asking Sir, don't you believe that it is better to love your brother in Christ, rather than to pick apart doctrine? Especially since in God's word Jesus says that the two more important commands are to love God, and love others like you love yourself. Right now all I see is division being caused within the body of Christ!

  5. Continued...

As spoken in 1 CORINTHIANS 1 - MATTHEW HENRY'S CONCISE COMMENTARY ON THE BIBLE (not that I think he holds the answers, but I do like his take on this)"Exhortation to brotherly love, and reproof for divisions. In the great things of religion be of one mind; and where there is not unity of sentiment, still let there be union of affection. Agreement in the greater things should extinguish divisions about the lesser. There will be perfect union in heaven, and the nearer we approach it on earth, the nearer we come to perfection. Paul and Apollos both were faithful ministers of Jesus Christ, and helpers of their faith and joy; but those disposed to be contentious, broke into parties. So liable are the best things to be corrupted, and the gospel and its institutions made engines of discord and contention. Satan has always endeavoured to stir up strife among Christians, as one of his chief devices against the gospel. The apostle left it to other ministers to baptize, while he preached the gospel, as a more useful work. (1Co 1:17-25)" Wouldn't it be more biblical to go to the pastor, and address your concerns in love. Or even silently pray or ask a few prayer warriors to pray with you on it? Rather than blast a church on a blog. Personally, I'm not sure, because I do not call myself one with great knowledge, nor do I clam to have more doctrinal knowledge than someone else. However, I do love Jesus, and want to see others come to know Him. I pray that in some small way in the big picture, Jesus will use my life to be a blessing to others. Still, I fall short. I believe there is a scripture that talks about how to address confronting someone in love who has strayed from the truth. It sure doesn't appear that a blog such as this would be the way. Couldn't issues and concerns about the church be addressed, without singling out a specific church? There are flaws in every church, and in every person! Jesus also says in the Bible that if we say we are without sin, we make HIM out to be a liar. 1 John 1:8 (King James Version) I am not saying that you are claiming to be without sin...However, a blog such as this suggests that you feel you have all the right answers for the church.I have read your blog and writings in the past, and kept silent. Yet, it seems that you are coming from a place where you are more concerned about having all the answers, and that you have this vast knowledge of placing yourself into a position of judge and jury. I do not mean any disrespect to you, in the same token, please also do not disrespect one of God's dear children publicly. If WE, all of us Christians spent more time building one another up and truly praying for on another, rather than tearing one another down or comparing whose church is the right church, maybe we could all get about the Father's business of sharing his love and hope! I've got four fingers pointing back to myself as I type this!!!! I get so frustrated with myself for my pride as well. As it is, why would I or anyone want to be a part of a body that attacks and devours itself! It is just too hurtful...God help us all!

  6. We are not called to build people up but are to preach the gospel. We are talking about the eternal soul of people that are going to Hell because of what is being taught out there. We are to tell the truth no matter what. If you are preaching a false gospel, we are called to reprove them. 2 Tim 3:16 All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. 2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
We are to preach truth and never let error go. Dean is just pointing out the facts of this man and his church's doctrine, not the man himself. I applaud Dean for standing up for truth which is lacking today.

  7. Thank you Jennography for visiting my blog and responding to this post. I am not a photographer (as you already noticed if you had looked at my profile picture) and would give you my complete and undivided attention if you were to teach the basics of taking pictures, setting the focus, zoom and those sorts of things associated with photography. It would be wrong for me to teach on photography because I lack the knowledge. When we approach scripture we must pay attention to 3 basic things, 1) who is speaking, 2) who is the speaker speaking to, 3) do I fit in the audience being spoken to. Now, if you were to be teaching someone how to take a picture with a camera, and I was in your class trying to gain the information on painting a picture, well, I would be in the wrong place wouldn't I? So when you go to scripture for your doctrine (marching orders) how much more important is it to be in the right place? Your eternal soul depends on you getting things right. Your Bible, ( and I am so glad to see you have quoted the KJB in your ressponses) has divisions in it, basically, 95 percent is directed solely to the nation Israel concerning their covenant status with God, only about 100 pages of your KJB is directed solely to the church, the body of Christ for it's doctrine(marching orders). Maybe my analogy of taking pictures and painting pictures was not very good, but hopefully you can see that each aspect of pictures are mutually exclusive. I would not ever learn to paint a portrait in your class would I. In the Bible, you cannot know how a soul is saved with the worthy walk following, or what we are to be engaged in doing if you are using the wrong instructions. When a Pastor or church is teaching you doctrine from the wrong books, the end result is not a pretty picture, therefore, I am not being unloving to a certain person or group, in fact, what I am doing is very loving in that I am concerned enough to give warning! Please take the time to read other posts on this blogspot, it is intended to instruct. Thanks again for visiting. Grace and Peace!

  8. Jenn, I just read part two of your response, and honestly, it is disturbs me concerning your use of Mathew Henry's commentary for the reason being "you like his take". We don't have a choice in the matter as to liking or disliking what is said, or to whom they are said. Mathew Henry is biased to his belief being he is aa Acts 2 Baptist, believing the church began in Acts 2, failing to rightly divide the word of truth, and only seeing one gospel in the entire Bible when there are at least three named gospels distinctly different containing different doctrine for each group they are directed. Mathew Henry failed in distinguishing the obvious doctrinal differences from the Gospel of the Kingdom given to Israel and the Gospel of the Grace of God to the Apostle Paul beginning in Acts 9. Pertaining to water baptism, there is no where, no scripture whatsoever declaring someone followed Paul ministering a water ceremony of baptism. Clearly, 1st Cor 1:17 demonstrates on many levels that OUR Gospel, the Gospel of the grace of God does not have associated with it water baptism. The verse says water baptism makes the cross of NONE EFFECT. Henry added without scripture someone else doing the water ceremony which is a part of Israel's gospel, but has no function in OUR Gospel. Doesn't Paul explain in several places that there is but ONE BAPTISM of any effect during this present dispensation of the grace of God such as Ephesians 4:5? Wouldn't the one effectial baptism be that of 1st Cor 12:13 whereby the Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ? identified with His death as set forth in Romans 6:3-4? Are you getting the importance of this doctrine? Ask a number of people if they are saved and how they know they are saved and I will wager a good portion will answer "because I was baptized" referring to a water ceremony when their faith needs to be on the death, burial and resurrection of Christ as presented by our apostle Paul in 1st Corinthians 15:1-4. Ephesians 1:13 describes the process in salvation....read it and see where water baptism fits in. It doesn't! Example, read Acts 10:35 and compare that to Titus 3:5. Do you see where rightly dividing the word of truth becomes vital to getting it right? As to doing this publicly on a blog. I did ask your pastor for his permission, he didn't mind. If he wasn't concerned over the scrutiny it is recieving, maybe he should not have posted it originally. Now let me ask you this. Which is evil, posting teaching on a blog that could damm someones soul to Hell?,,,,or someone showing the error of the teaching? Seems to me the answer should be obvious. Paul even said in Colossians 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory: Colossians 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus: .........My response to the horrible teaching is presented to WARN and also TEACH, not to win a popularity contest. Again, our apostle Paul beseeches us all to Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. So, what I am doing is Biblical, it is scriptural, it is dispensational doctrinally correct. You spoke about "unity", but what you want is a "union". A union can contain many different beliefs, unity cannot. There cannot be unity at the expense of doctrine otherwise you have compromised the doctrine given by Christ, to Paul, for usward. I don't expect folks to get this the first time around, I am patient, persistant, and willing to be spent for you.
2 Corinthians 12:15 And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I be loved.

  9. Galatians 6: 1Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the "spirit of meekness"; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.2Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.3For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.4But let every man prove his own work, and then shall he have rejoicing in himself alone, and not in another.5For every man shall bear his own burden.6Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things.7Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.8For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.9And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. 10As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, "especially unto them who are of the household of faith".

  10. Amen to Galatians 6!! What a great book of correction. Paul is speaking to people that were saved by grace through faith how turned back to the law of Moses seeking justification. Galatians, written during the Acts 17-19 time period, during the transition period from the kingdom gospel to the grace gospel is such a unique time and will never be repeated being the kingdom gospel has been set aside for a specific time by God himself. The point, Paul knew these folks to be saved by HIS Gospel. Today, we must listen to what a person has placed their faith in to be saved, for us that are excercising our senses, who are of full age using the meat of the word can discern good and evil, determining to where a person has placed their faith. Jenn, do you think for one minute that everyone that goes to church, that says they are saved, that claims to be a Christian actually has the understanding of what a Christian is or to how a soul is saved? It would be a tragic mistake to assume all who make the claim are what they claim to be. For instance, I myself claimed to be a Christian for 15 years, doing what my Pastor said was right, making a shew in the flesh, and at the same time I was trusting in what I did, not placing my faith in what Christ had already done. Asking Jesus in your heart, calling on the name of the Lord, making a commitment, making Jesus Lord of my life, following Jesus, doing good works, getting baptised, tithing, keeping the Christian so called sabbath (Sunday)etc...etc.......all that junk is a one way ticket to Hell in this present dispensation of the Grace of God. We live in a unique period wherein the only requirement for salvation on our end is faith in what Christ did in that He died for our sins, was buried and rose again the 3rd day. God counts our faith for r ighteousness and baptises us into his body identifying us with His death wherefore we can say as Paul, I am crucified with Christ (Gal 2:20) If you add to that by saying , "yeah, but you got to live it, but you got to keep the commandments, but you got to follow Jesus teachings"...you have identified yourself as someone that is not trusting in what Christ has already accomplished but what you did to seal the deal.
Galatians 5 teaches us to satnd fast in the liberty where Christ has made us free.....most folks claiming to be Christian have never had that liberty because they have never trusted Christ's payment for our sins alone instead are trusting in their confession of sins for forgiveness.
To the point, apparently you are still defending your pastor and assembly and now involved at attempting to disprove my approach in demonstrating the error of certain teachings from your pastor. Marking someone that is teaching false doctrine isn't pretty, nor is it enjoyable, but it must be done. Listen to Paul in Philippians teaching us to give the preferable mark to them that follow the doctrine given him by Christ for this present dispensation of the grace of God.
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Philippians 3:18 (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:
Philippians 3:19 Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

Paul is crying over these folks that refuse to follow the right doctrine, calling them the enemies of the cross. I also am saddened greatly by what I see being taught in most churches knowing....their end is destruction. So please, do not think for a moment this is enjoyable or that I am glorying in doing this, it must be done. What the Apostle Paul speaks are the commandments of the Lord,(1st Cor 14:37) and I am just being obedient. That's enough for now, again, thanks for visiting my blog and take the time to read a few other posts....compare and contrast would be a good one. Grace and Peace!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, I realize you believe this to be your calling, and you believe you are being obedient in doing it in this manner. I'm not trying to discourage you...but to encourage you by asking you to try a different approach...a Biblical approach as well. vs 3 of 1 Cor 14 says this: 3But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. What about this part?

In "defense" of Pastor Ebeling. The Pastor of Discovery Church, he is my brother in Christ. As with all of my brothers and sisters in Christ, I will try to encourage them with God's word, I will love them, and pray for them. I will do my best to not be a stumbling block that would cause discouragement to them. (even though I do fail at times, I keep trying)

I see more in the Bible about encouraging our brothers and sisters in Christ, in way to be the least offensive. As Jesus did...He did things like, wrote in the sand to make a point. He asked questions that made others think within about their motives.

We can teach truth through sharing truth, encouraging with the words of truth, and living out love with exercising the fruit of the spirit in and through our lives...live out "Christ like" love. Would this be effective too and far less offensive?

No church has it all right. I agree, I don't like a lot of things going on in the churches today either.

Of course, I don't like a lot of things that went on in previous churches either that have recently surfaced after so many yrs; such as the abuse of hidden sexual sins against children in the christian churches.

Yes, there are a lot of things not right going on in A LOT churches, from past to present! That is because man is not perfect, and never will be until Jesus returns. This does not mean we shouldn't keep striving to live our lives Holy.

Discovery is not a perfect church, and I've not heard Pastor Ebeling ever say Discovery church is the perfect church. For the short time I've been there...He has preached Christ!

According to Paul, As long as Christ is being preached...we can and should rejoice. In Philippians we are taught that we can REJOICE...YES!...even if the gospel is preached not in a way that is perfectly right...as long as Christ is preached, Christ will be glorified. Truth prevails!

We are instructed to correct and reproof. Yet to do so, considering ourselves lower than the person we are correcting. It is difficult to do this. I fear that even now I'm failing at this, as I am attempting to share truth. I do not want to be arrogant, or puffed up as I share.

Therefore it is almost better to present God's word, which stands alone as truth.

    Philippians 1 (KJV)
15Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:16The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:17But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.18What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice

  12. Also, RE your quote ref of Philippians 3:17 "Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample." I feel this has been taken out of context in your interpretation. This verse is saying "mark those followers who also who follow Paul's enample... the example". "Paul and the followers (them which walk so) them being the actual followers who walk as Paul walks, as being the example (as ye have us for an example) - Paul is saying "see?? take notice of those who are followers of me...as "the mark" for how we all should live. Paul is not actually saying to MARK with a marking, call out, or BRAND folks who aren't getting something right. If you read earlier in that chapter...you will read about "setting the mark of the higher calling" Mark being "setting the precedence". It is the same context. It is not defined as a branding/marking of our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. We are not to brand our brothers and sisters in Christ...but to love and encourage them with the scriptures/word of God. :)

I post in KJV out of respect to you. However, I appreciate and read all translations...including KJV (which is also a translation by men), NKJV, NIV... The Message is my preference for daily. I embrace the KJV. I own several versions that I also embrace. It is all God's word...man's translation of it. Isn't God's word amazing? In every language? To God Be the Glory!

And yes, I have checked our your others posts.

  14. Christ can be preached anywhere, but which Christ are they preaching? His earthly ministry was to the Jew only. He instructed His disciples to go ONLY to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. You can be biblical but not dispensational and be out of the will of God. You can preach that Noah found favor by building an ark but you won't find favor doing that today. Jesus preached the law and He was under the law. Paul tells you you are NOT under the law but under grace. Are they both biblical? Yes but Paul get a different message to preach than what even Jesus preached. Did it come from Paul? No, it came from Jesus himself. Same God, different instructions. You can preach the Christ of the four gospels and be in error. Also if you have kids, do you discipline them? You love them but you have to show them that they are wrong and that they need to change what they are doing. Love sometimes means doing things you may not like but are necessary. We understand the error being preached out there because we believed it too. But when you truly are set free by understanding that we are not Israel or under their law, it makes it even more important to show someone else the error. That way they can stop their error and trust the Jesus that Paul preaches and not lead others down the same path.

  15. Jenn, When folks go to church, maybe for the first time or let's say when they make a confession of faith (and I am not going to bog down there), the first thing the preacher tells them to read is which book? I bet you answer the book of John. Did I get that right? Unknowingly the baby Christian goes home and begins reading John, after all, it is the book that utilizes the terminolgy "born again", so why not? Well, what happens to John 4:22 declaring "salavtion is of the Jews" or John 5:28-29 declaring that salvation is based on one's performance? What is the new believer to think? He was just told salvation is for everyone and it is not by works? Do you see the confusion that is being presented to the new believer? If you do not rightly divide the word of truth, dividing Israel's performance, covenant doctrine from the doctrine given to Paul for us in this present dispensation of the grace of God and blend them together as if they are saying the same thing, you have identified yourself or the person doing it as someone that is perverting the gospel as Paul says in Galatians 1:7-9.
In reply to Philippians 3, there is no contexual discord in verse 3:17, I had it spot on. The mark is an identifier of who is following the grace doctrine given to Paul,(ensample is not the same word as example, they are even spelled different) the ones that are not are then described as enemies of the cross. Would you be the enemy of the cross based upon your way of life? It is about the doctrine. The same way Paul beseeches us in Romans 16:17 to mark the ones that cause division and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned....purpose....to be AVOIDED....How would they be avoided if they were not identified? It is to identify the error and the person. That should be clear. Do I feel this is "my calling". Well, I know how the evangelical world thinks and operates pertaining to calling as some sort of "I got a word from the Lord" sort of thing and my response to that is Romans 16:17 speaks to every member of the body of Christ.
The KJB for my respect is nice, what about out of respect for God who preserved His WORD which is composed of words. The difference in the Bibles (and I say that loosely) is not a translation variation. The difference is the manuscripts from which they are being translated. Every translation since 1853 ( Ibelieve I have that date correct) is translated from the corrupt Wescott and Hort text. This is a topic I will be blogging on soon. So, I cannot amen to the NIV, NKJB( which is not a KJB at all) or the mystical Message version. If any Bible will do, then NO BIBLE can be true, they say different things and the end result is you have no final authority.
Jenn, My wife and I got ourselves a Bloodhound puppy about a year ago and he has been alot fun to say the least. He has big ole ears, long legs, big feet, smart knot on his head, and he is still a little clumsy. We used to get a kick out him chasing his own tail, round and round he would go never quite catching the end of his tail, then he would fall down and give a big puff between his extremely sagging lips. Why did I tell you that? Well, I see you trying to defend error from your Pastor by trying to find a fly in my soup. You are going round and round and never catching your tail, nor will you find the fly in my soup.

  16. Yes, I do realized the spelling difference. However...
"ensample" is the same thing as "example".
Etymology: Middle English, from Anglo-French ensample, essample, example
    Date: 13th century
Example is a synonym for ensample.
I own a hard back Webster unabridged dictionary...here is the definition online as well:

The word of the Lord says this in Galatians 5
13For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.14For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.15But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another.16This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.17For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.26Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

I pray for truth to be revealed. The same Holy Spirit that is within me, is more than capable of guiding me in discerning truth from falsehood. My final authority is God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

I still do not know...what is your doctrine?

  17. Prefixes "EN" and "EX"....En constitutes something to be within....EX constitutes something that is out. Allow me to attempt to demonstrate the difference in a way every law enforcement officer could understand using the subject of "donuts". Walk into a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts and you will see pictures of donuts on the wall. The picture is an EXAMPLE of what you will purchase but not from the same mixture of dough and toppings. It would be a representative but not the actual thing.
An ENSAMPLE is from within....a baker's dozen consists of 13 of whatever was baked...the reason for a baker's dozen was for folks to sample that which is from the original batch of product. Your sample is the actual product you will purchase. I hope that communicates the difference in the two words ensample and example.
Then you posted Galatians 5:13-26, for what I do not know. Was I supposed to get something from this passage to dismiss my approach to making known Pastor Jason's perverted doctrine? I am to take away from this passage just to that I am biting and devouring? If so, you are making and taking all of this personally instead of what it is. I really don't know what your point of posting a passage written to folks who were saved by Paul's "my gospel" who turned back to the weak and beggarly elements of the law. Did not Paul begin in chapter 5 saying "stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ HATH made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage". Nothing about Discovery Church would make one think they have ever been anything else but entangled with the yoke of bondage. Mercy, even the website has a "tithing challenge" listed somewhere (tithing is of the law), your pastor taught a series on keeping a Sabbath day did he not? Sabbath keeping is of the law, we are to esteem every day alike are we not? You guys claim to be "Christ followers" as far as I can read from the blogs and websites concerning your assembly, never considering Christ operated everyday under the law, came only to them under the law, and never told anyone anything, not even one word concerning the dispensation of the grace of God, never told anyone to trust in His death, burial and resurrection to be saved, Jesus never preached salvation by grace through faith but only to keep the commandments and endure unto the end to be saved....never a present pocession of the atonement. If a soul is saved today in this present dispensation of the grace of God, it is through the data given to Paul from the risen Christ for usward...Jesus gave Paul our marching orders and doctrine..and we are told to follow Paul... Mercy!...is that so hard?
It is quite funny that you would claim the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as your final authority and you went to the Websters for a word definition. Everything you could possibly know about God is in His Book. We are people of a book we have His word , Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by what? ...the Word of God! It is all God's word which is made up of words and each word has meaning and should not be changed. Your lovely MESSAGE Bible changed how many words of the text? Could it be ALL the words were changed? and you embrace it? Did you know the KJB still contains the "jot and tittle" Jesus spoke about in Mathew 5? Discernemnt comes from the written word..for definition...Hebrews 5:12-14 and Hebrews 4:12...you need His word, not some kind of feeling or I am going to pray about it kind of thing. And now your last question.....I believe you know "my" doctrine" by now. If you really don't get it yet...once again, go back and read my posts....mercy.

  18. No... I still do not see any answer here, or clear definition of what you believe to be your doctrine.

Only more spewing of hate and presumptuous talk with such condescending tones.

I'm not taking anything personally...seems like you are though. :)

Stop hating on a man of God, Pastor Ebeling. Correct him in love if you feel he is wrong; correct according to God's word, and how the Bible instructs us to do it. :) That is simple...don't you think?

God's word is not meant to be so complicated. This is why we only need to come to Him with child-like faith.

You totally misquoted me on what I said about The Message Bible. I actually did say that I embraced the KJV...I read many translations. For some reason you seem to take such offense to The Message translation...and to Merriam-Webster.

The word of the Lord says this.

2 Timothy 3:14-16 (King James Version)

14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;15And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.16All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

And what do you make of this?

Luke 7:49-50 (King James Version)49And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50And he (Jesus) said to the woman,"Thy faith hath saved thee"; go in peace.

Jesus tells this woman that her "faith" has saved her...and to go in peace.

I do the same...I go in peace.
